In Los Angeles, the possibilities of activities to take part in are endless. This month of December leading into the holiday season is no exception. So much nostalgic music to fill our ears, hearts and dreams! Here is a list of events to stimulate your ears this holiday and into the New Year!
59th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration: Free and Open to ALL!
Marking its 59th year, the holiday gathering at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion hosts an afternoon of performances that range from traditional choirs, to Dixieland blues ensembles. Members from the Korean, Chinese, Mexican, Filipino, and Cuban communities of Los Angeles will be performing, showcasing each of their unique cultural celebrations of the holiday season. Los Angeles’ largest multicultural holiday celebration, which is presented by the LA County Board of Supervisors, provides Angelenos of all ages an opportunity to come together during the holidays to experience and honor the dynamic, rich cultures of the County. During the event, many diverse LA-based artists and community groups showcase their talent, artistry and traditions on The Music Center’s iconic Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage. The production features instrumental music, choral music and dance performances.

Los Angeles Ballet’s The Nutcracker
Los Angeles Ballet’s The Nutcracker is the city’s own holiday tradition, perfect for celebrating the season. Set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, Los Angeles Ballet stays true to the traditions of the holiday story with some surprises! This production is set in 1912 Los Angeles. Throughout the five scenes in two acts you will find hints and tastes of Southern California: a Spanish style home, calla lilies, bougainvillea, the snowy forests of the Sierras, Venice archways, a moonlit Pacific Ocean and more! This Holiday classic will move to many theaters across Los Angeles and surrounding areas through the month, with a three-day finale leading up to Christmas at Royce Hall at UCLA.
The lobby of Hollywood’s Dream Hotel is being made over into a cozy holiday living room environment–and what’s a living room without a classic holiday movie on the screen. Get some hot chocolate and cookies and settle in between the crackling fire and the Christmas tree for movies including Elf, A Christmas Story, and Love, Actually.
Dream Hollywood boasts 178 playfully sophisticated guest rooms with subtle nods to the mid-century modern aesthetics, which are iconic to Los Angeles. Featuring accommodations with unparalleled views and luxurious guest amenities, Dream Hollywood also offers opulent restaurants and the city’s swankiest rooftop pool!
