About the

Sensia

At La Cañada Hearing Aids & Audiology in La Cañada Flintridge, CA, we're pleased to offer ReSound Sensia, a new premium hearing aid family designed to help you hear the person you actually want to hear. Many AI-powered hearing aids can emphasize the wrong voice or even treat background music as the sound you're trying to follow. Sensia addresses this by focusing on the conversation in front of you, while keeping the very small size and all-day battery life of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia. Dr. Kevin Ivory provides expert fitting and ongoing care to help you get the most from this advanced technology.

Intelligent All-Around Sound Processing

Sensia combines three technologies into a new automatic sound-processing system called Intelligent All-Around:

  • AcoustIQ classifies your sound environment and determines which features to engage
  • A binaural 4-microphone beamformer gives preference to speech in the direction you're facing
  • DNN denoising reduces competing speech and other distractions around the person you're talking with

Together, these technologies are designed to lift the conversation you're trying to follow rather than simply locking onto the loudest voice in the room.

Hearing the Voice You Choose

Sensia relies on a natural cue: people generally look toward the person they want to hear. By pairing its Deep Neural Network with the binaural beamformer, Sensia makes speech in front of you the primary target, while still preserving lower-frequency sound from around you so you keep a natural sense of space. In GN-sponsored testing with two equally loud talkers, Sensia more consistently favored the person in front. As with all manufacturer-cited results, we view this as promising evidence that still benefits from evaluation of your individual performance.

Sensia also uses two types of noise reduction. DNN denoising is used in difficult environments where there is speech to preserve, while ReSound's established Noise Tracker II handles situations dominated by nonspeech noise, such as a fan or vacuum cleaner. The hearing aids automatically switch between the two as your environment changes.

Proven Connectivity and Bimodal Options

Sensia includes Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast connectivity that is fully activated now, not merely "ready" for a future update. This allows you to connect to broadcast audio in public venues such as theaters, airports, and places of worship, and at least one receiver-in-ear model also includes a telecoil.

For cochlear implant users, ReSound Sensia Bimodal is designed to work with Cochlear Nucleus sound processors through the Smart Hearing Alliance.

Styles and Battery Life

Sensia is available in rechargeable microRIE, size 312 and 13 RIE, nonwireless CIC, wireless ITC, and rechargeable ITC/ITE styles. The rechargeable microRIE and ITC/ITE models are rated for at least 24 hours of use, with up to roughly 30 hours depending on usage, and a smaller updated premium portable charger is available.

Please note that the full automatic Intelligent All-Around system is included in Sensia 9 microRIE models, while Sensia 7 offers DNN processing through a manually selected hearing-in-noise program, and custom models do not include DNN denoising at launch.

The most advanced hearing aid is not automatically the best one for every person. Your hearing test results, speech-in-noise ability, ear anatomy, and listening needs all matter when selecting the right device and technology level. Dr. Kevin Ivory evaluates these factors before determining whether ReSound Sensia is appropriate for you. If Sensia is selected, we program and verify it with Real Ear Measurements, then use follow-up optimization through our ListeningBrain® Process to make sure the technology is truly improving your hearing in the situations that matter most.
